I had a lawn that was in pretty bad shape from grubs. It was during the part of summer where you just don't get a lot of rain, so it was really dry, really patchy, a lot of dirt, and overall not much grass. I just went to the root cause. I applied GrubEx Killer and the right fertilizer and nutrients with a good amount of watering and I brought it back.
How did you learn to take care of a lawn?
My father taught me when I was a kid. He had high expectations of how our lawn should look and just kind of laid out the basics. I developed it. I started cutting our ditch with a push mower when I was 11, and I went on from there.
What do you love most about being a lawn care provider?
When you show up to the house and things are overgrown and it looks a little scraggly, with a little bit of work and know-how and the right equipment, you can make it look like a golf course lawn. My customers seem to be very happy with that.
What makes you a great lawn care provider?
I think knowledge, skill, equipment is part of it, but I really think that it is listening to the customers for what they want. It may not be what I think the grass should look like, it's what they think the grass should look like, and I try to give them what it is that they want in their lawn.
What's your best lawn care tip?
My best lawn care tip is if you don't want to do it yourself, get the right person, not the cheapest person.
