The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center in nearby Fort Lauderdale has 60,000 sq ft of unique Black history books as well as books written by African Americans.

Of course, what remains of the Everglades is still very close to Plantation. Everglades National Park is just an hour to the south. It's a nice getaway from city life, and back to primordial Florida. Likewise, Big Cypress National Preserve is an hour and a half drive to the east from Plantation.
